Experience
I have previously been a tutor at NMU's tutoring center while a student, have tutored students in Medical Microbiology for NMU's disability services program and have been employed as an ESL teacher at NMU. I was a National Merit Scholar in 1977, and my SAT scores at that time were 660 verbal, 630 math. I successfully passed the NCLEX-RN examination in the minimum number of questions and am willing to tutor nursing students in any and all subjects including test preparation. I have three wonderful children of my own (2 in college, one in high school) and enjoy working with young adults. Tutoring offers me the opportunity to help young adults academically and offer them an experiential resource as well. My flexible work schedule allows me to connect with students when it is convenient for them. I started in healthcare as a secretary, then a medical office manager, and realized that I would need to return to school in order to achieve my goals. I did return in my late 30's and started with core sciences at Gogebic Community College. I transferred to NMU and earned a 3.95 in their BSN program. I have been an RN since the year 2000, and have worked in a number of different nursing environments. Prior to starting my career in health care, I worked in France for a french corporation. I feel extremely comfortable speaking and teaching French grammar and pronunciation.
